  • US Housing Market in September: Key Trends to Watch

US Housing Market in September: Key Trends to Watch

September brought some notable shifts in the US housing market: home delistings dropped by 12.6%, and we’re seeing price cuts—up 20.4%—at levels similar to what’s projected for 2025. Meanwhile, inventory in the Midwest and Northeast increased by 10.5% and 9.1%, respectively. Mortgage rates are holding steady at 6.67%, and that could mean even fewer buyers entering the market in the coming months. Watching these national trends is essential, but as someone who’s spent over four decades helping clients navigate changing markets here in the Lake of the Ozarks, I know how important it is to balance the big picture with local expertise. • Lake Ozark Market Update: More Homes Sold, More Time to Decide

Lake Ozark Market Update: More Homes Sold, More Time to Decide

Lake Ozark’s real estate market is showing stronger closing activity. In September, 368 homes sold—up 5.7% from 348 sales during the same month last year. The increase points to a steady pool of buyers who remain active despite current interest rates.

At the same time, 34 new listings entered the market, contributing to a rise in available inventory. More inventory gives buyers additional choices and creates opportunities to compare homes, negotiate thoughtfully, and take time to find the right fit.

The market is also moving at a slower pace. Homes took an average of 110 days to sell in September, compared with 81 days a year ago. Sellers may need to focus on accurate pricing, strong presentation, and patience, while buyers can benefit from a less rushed decision-making process.

Whether you’re considering a move now or planning ahead, understanding these local trends is essential. Reach out for a personalized Lake Ozark market analysis and a strategy tailored to your goals.
